This privacy policy explains how personal data is collected and used when you visit sabyasachisengupta.com, contact Saby, or take the Speaker DNA quiz. Your privacy matters, and personal data is handled carefully, lawfully and in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller of your personal data is Sabyasachi (Saby) Sengupta, operating as Method in Madness, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

For any privacy question or request, email sabyasachi@method-im.com.

2. What data is collected and why

When you use the contact form

Your first and last name, email address, subject and message. This is used only to reply to you and to discuss keynotes, workshops, coaching or other bookings you ask about.

Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement, and the legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.

When you take the Speaker DNA quiz

Your quiz answers and results, and, if you choose to receive your results, your name and email address. To keep the quiz working well and to prevent abuse, the device type, the page that referred you and your IP address are also recorded.

This is used to calculate your speaking style, email you your personal results and, where you have agreed to it, send you occasional related tips and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

When you browse the website

Like every website, the hosting server automatically logs technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used only to keep the site secure, available and fast.

Legal basis: the legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable website.

3. Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics cookies are placed in your browser.

Some content, such as the World Championship speech video, is embedded from YouTube. The video only loads from YouTube when you choose to play it, and from that moment YouTube may set its own cookies in line with Google’s privacy policy.

4. Who your data is shared with

Your personal data is never sold. It is shared only with trusted service providers that help run this website and service, and only as far as needed:

  • Website hosting – Namecheap (EasyWP), which hosts the website and its data.
  • Email and newsletter services – used to deliver your quiz results and, with your consent, follow-up emails (for example Mailchimp).
  • Embedded content – YouTube (Google), only when you play a video.

Data may also be disclosed where the law requires it.

5. International transfers

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. When that happens, appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, so your data stays protected to the standard required by the GDPR.

6. How long your data is kept

  • Contact enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless they lead to an engagement.
  • Booking and invoicing records: 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law.
  • Speaker DNA results and email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Quiz records without an email address are deleted after 24 months.
  • Server logs: for a short period only, as set by the hosting provider.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data held about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted;
  • restrict or object to its processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

To use any of these rights, email sabyasachi@method-im.com. You will receive a response within one month.

If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

8. Security

Appropriate technical and organisational measures protect your data, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection across the whole website and access limited to those who need it.

9. Children

This website is not aimed at children under 16, and their personal data is not knowingly collected.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
